Bluum

Bluum makes garden storage with living green roofs, along with a growing range of sustainable garden products. Their customers want to see exactly what they're buying, so the store needed to show off the products in their best light while making it easy to compare sizes, options and add-ons.

The store was previously using an off-the-shelf theme. My first task was to get the site ready for Online Store 2.0 - by upgrading the pre-existing theme to a newer version and fixing any breaking issues. From there, I was able to work with Bluum to roll their creative branding out across the site, bringing their digital estate in line with their excellent printed and physical materials.

Making full use of the new JSON template architecture allowed the Bluum team to build and rearrange pages without needing a developer. Interactive pieces, like product galleries, option pickers and the cart, use Alpine.js and Swiper, keeping the JavaScript as light as possible and progressively enhanced.

I also integrated Yotpo reviews into product pages and collections, so social proof shows up right where customers are making decisions. Throughout the build I kept a close eye on performance and accessibility, which is no small thing on an image-heavy ecommerce site.
